When multiple radio stations broadcast at the same shortwave frequency, interference at the edges of the spectrum produces a strange sound called the Mexican Dog. It inspired filmmaker and artist Dany Deprez for the title of his new, long-awaited expanded film. Accompanied by photographer and visual artist Faber Mahieu, he will present a found footage performance for six 16mm projectors and other optical devices. The combination of the images doesn’t impose a narrative.
Live improvisation by Imre De Cauter (cello) and Matthias Dewilde (Fender Rhodes and electronics). Together, they form the Ghent duo Matterhorn Well. Imre was part of De Twintigers, Klara’s selection of the ten most promising young talents.
Preceded by De Pesthuizen, a forgotten short film that Dany Deprez made in the Small Beguinage’s garden at the former location of Art Cinema OFFoff as one of the many experiments that saw the light of day there at the time. The film questions the last moments in life and the perception of colors.
