Charo Calvo: Cinéma pour l’oreille

Charo Calvo will play a collection of diverse audio works composed by herself and
other authors, mostly women. A kaleidoscopic travelogue of sonic snapshots from
various parts of the world presents a fragmented view on different cultures, times,
atmospheres, languages and geographies. From sound art to storytelling through
glimpses of contemporary electroacoustic music, from love stories to immersive war
soundscapes, sound worlds materialize behind our eyes. A true cinema for the ear
experience.

Charo Calvo is a Spanish electroacoustic composer, sound designer and teacher,
living in Ghent. After a career as a dancer with the Belgian dance company
Ultima Vez, she started her studies in Electroacoustic Composition with Annette
Vande Gorne at the Brussels Conservatory. Her work as a composer is being
developed through different media, widely diffused at international venues and
festivals, dance and theatre performances and on film and radio. She is a researcher
at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts / Royal Conservatoire Antwerp and teaches at
ARTS2 Mons and KASK School of Arts Ghent.
