Victor Van Rossem & Rûl: Toward a fundamental theory of physics

Victor Van Rossem and Rûl perform with auditory and visual loops. Victor live-mixes images from his experimental film Toward a Fundamental Theory of Physics (2025) through an analog video circuit over Rûl’s 4‑track cassette loops – a collection of samples, synths and beats gathered over a period of ten years!

In an attempt to make light and time tangible, Ghent-based multimedia artist Victor Van Rossem built a unique reconstruction of the Time-Slice camera – a precursor to the ​“Bullet Time” technique made famous by The Matrix. No fewer than 293 lenses simultaneously capture different viewpoints on 16mm film. His independently produced 3D film was shot and devel­o­ped during his resi­d­en­cy at Atelier OFFoff. Toward a Fundamental Theory of Physics premiered on May 26 at Art Cinema OFFoff and was subsequently selected for the prestigious New York Film Festival, Analogica (Italy) and Light Matter (New York).
