Flashlight Cinema

Almost thirty cinemas and film exhibitors from Flanders and Brussels participate in the fourth edition of Open Cinema. Between September 27 and October 5, we offer visitors a taste of our film programming with a festive program. All together, all just that little bit different.

Art Cinema OFFoff, the Ghent-based platform for experimental film and audiovisual art, offers a unique introduction to analog film projection. At our venue in Kunsthal Gent, we are transforming the pavilion into a true Flashlight Cinema. In the black box, plexiglass panels contain filmstrips in every possible format (8, 16, 35, and even 70mm). We invite visitors to use flashlights to project the images and stories from the filmstrips and explore them up close.
